My last Ebay sale was on March 29th. I have two gray/blue controllers listed, but no one seems to be interested in that color combination. Maybe it is because I set the price above $30. It seemed like Xbox One controllers were selling too quickly when the price was under $30. I have one of the newer models on the work bench that needs a new trigger. I ordered a replacement set from a seller in Ohio on March 21, but as of April 11, the status still says that USPS is awaiting the item. This is similar to what happened with an order that I had with a seller in Indiana. In that case, the item was scanned as received by USPS, so I was able to open a “find missing mail” report. This time the item shows as not being received by USPS, so I can’t report the item as missing. The seller said that they shipped the package and would contact USPS. 11 days have passed, and I haven’t heard back from the seller. There is a severe weather warning on the USPS website for the south-eastern US, which includes Ohio. But that doesn’t explain why my item isn’t showing up in their system.
It is extremely frustrating when they keep raising the price of shipping and service keeps getting worse. My only option is to wait another week (21 days total) and then try to get my money back from the seller. Meanwhile, I have a controller sitting here that I can’t sell. It has also gotten very difficult to find a controller that needs repair for a reasonable price. I have not won an auction on ShopGoodwill or Ebay since March 12. That was 4 weeks ago. I can’t make any money if I can’t buy controllers. Replacement parts and Ebay selling fees eat into profits. Luckily, I haven’t had anyone ask for a refund on a controller. But I did have to issue a refund on a watch that I sold last month. The watch was 20 years old with a leather band. I noted in the listing that there were some cracks on the underside of the band, but apparently the buyer didn’t read that and decided to ask for a refund. I had to issue them a return label and wait a few weeks to get the watch back.
After that experience, I don’t think I will try to resell the watch. A new band costs about $13 and the watch is only worth $29.95. So, I would lose money. With no sales in the past two weeks and no controllers to repair, I’m getting depressed about having success as an Ebay seller. At least I don’t have to deal with tariffs. Maybe the selling price of refurbished controllers will go up after the price of a new Xbox One controller imported from China doubles. It’s going to be interesting to see what happens when we stop buying stuff from China.
