I knocked one item off my 2022 wish list. I found a battery maintainer on Amazon Warehouse and bought it for $42.94. It is the NOCO GENIUS 2-Amp Automatic Smart Charger. You can find my review of it here. I spent a few dollars more than I wanted to, but it looks like it will meet my needs. There are a ton of battery charger/ maintainers out there. If you want one that has some advanced features and isn’t too hard to operate, the NOCO Genius is a good choice. As far as the other items on my 2022 wish list, this may be the only one that I will be able to get this year. They have barley started to raise interest rates and almost all of my investments have dropped in value. The only thing that has gone up is the value of my house. But that means that insurance and property taxes will be increasing. Gas prices have been at $3.99 per gallon here for the last month.
Right now, it looks like another summer of no travel, no restaurants, no home improvements, and no meat for the barbeque. The last one really hurts. Budget cutting will have to reach a new level in order to keep up with inflation. To save on our water bill, I shower every other day and only wash one load of clothes per week. I wear the same clothes for 3 or 4 days in a row. To save on heat, the thermostat is set to 64 degrees. The car is only used to pick up groceries. We shop for discounted items after a holiday. We only buy food items that are on sale. We buy used and repair our clothes and shoes instead of buying new. There are so many little things that we do to try and save money that I think people are starting to notice because of the way we dress, shop, and interact with others. The clock is ticking closer to the day we will no longer be able to afford to stay in our home.
