Greenland is the least densely populated territory on Earth and 80% of the surface is covered in ice. To give you an idea of how forlorn this region is, the population has only increased by 418 in the last 25 years. Yet, for some reason this region has suddenly become of great interest to the US government. The consensus is that the region has an untapped wealth of rare earth elements. Currently, China refines over 90% of the world’s rare earths. This makes the region a vital strategic resource for the US. But Trump rarely gives a clear explanation for his actions, so we can only guess at his true motives. Two companies have licenses to explore and mine in Greenland. They are Amaroq Minerals (AMRQ) and Critical Metals Corp (CRML). Amaroq is a Canadian company and Critical Metals is based in the British Virgin Islands. There appears to be no US mining companies operating in the region. If the US enters the region, these companies may be looking for new ground to mine.
Since I live in Minnesota and only 25 miles from Minneapolis there is an urge to make a commentary on what is happening in this fine state. I have read posts from both sides and as usual I find myself somewhere in the middle. I would like to see undocumented immigrants removed, but I don’t like how they are going about it. I remember the George Floyd riots in May 2020. How for three nights there was fear that it would expand into the surrounding communities. This time the focus is on recent Hispanic and Somali immigrants. I looked up “travel to Somalia” and this warning came up: “Avoid all travel to Somalia due to the volatile security situation and the high threat of domestic terrorism.” So, yeah. Not a place you want to visit and be letting immigrants from there into your country. You can do your own research on that situation. But like they say, Once a pirate, always a pirate. I would say more, but Palantir (PLTR) is most likely watching our interwebs.
