I came across another example of how Amazon’s price isn’t the best anymore. I was looking for a staple gun to tack down some low voltage wires. Went to Amazon.com and found a model that looked good. It was from a company called Surebonder. They have been providing affordable and innovative adhesive solutions that are engineered and manufactured in the USA since 1968. On Amazon, the stapler I choose was priced at $37.99. I decided to go to the Surebonder website and found the same staple gun for $26.49. That is a difference of $11.50. Even the staples were $0.74 less on the Surebonder website. Even with a $7.99 shipping charge, I saved $5.70 by ordering directly from Surebonder.
I did place a small order for some other items I needed on Amazon. As I was finalizing the order, I added a package of Twizzler Bites. I sometimes add a treat if I’m ordering less than 4 items. The price for a 16 oz. package was $3.98. I went to my order history and saw that I had paid $2.98 last year. Because the price had increased by 34%, I decided to remove the Twizzlers from the order. The next day I was checking on my order and saw that the price of the Twizzler Bites had changed to $2.98. This is another thing I don’t like about Amazon, prices on their website change daily and without warning. Prices can even change on items you have sitting in your shopping cart! Do you really want to shop on a site that plays games with their pricing?
My girlfriend is still addicted to Amazon. She has a Prime membership and takes full advantage of the free shipping. It is rare that a day goes by without her placing an order for herself or one of her grown children. There is nothing to discourage someone from ordering a single item everyday, no matter how small the order is. This bogs down the order fulfillment process, creates packaging waste, and shipping expense for Amazon. Their return process also generates a lot of wasted time and money for Amazon. Unfortunately, it is going to be difficult to solve all their problems without making some customers angry.
